Dear Friends,

The mission of Skagit Opera is to:

  • Produce high quality, classical vocal programming (including, but not limited to, Opera, Operetta, Recital, Oratorio and Musical Theatre) that is available to all audiences and individuals, regardless of their age, income, demographic background, or knowledge of music.

  • Nurture enjoyment of, and participation in, classical vocal programming in Skagit County.

  • Develop a regional audience for our programming.

  • Provide programming that will encourage people of all ages to be involved as both participants and audience.

  • Produce educational programs for students in order to help develop a lifelong appreciation of classical music.

We began our work conservatively, with small productions and concerts, and have this season moved up to two  staged productions, Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado in October 2004, and Mozart's Magic Flute in March 2005.

We have performed in acoustically superb venues for such productions including St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and The Lincoln Theatre here in Mount Vernon. We moved into the beautiful new McIntyre Hall for our March 2005 Magic Flute production; the ambience and acoustics of the hall are fantastic.

There are many dedicated, talented and experienced actors and  instrumental and vocal performers here in Skagit County (and around the Puget Sound) to draw from for our productions. There has been a real renaissance in the performing arts here in Skagit County, and we  hope to be able to continue that tradition.

If you are interested in participating in any way, please contact us at info@skagitopera.org  or call 360 422-5070

Thank you for supporting the performing arts in Skagit County.

Sincerely,

Ronald L.  Wohl
President
