Soprano Signe Mortensen has quickly made her vocal and theatrical mark in the Pacific Northwest region and beyond. She has worked with companies and symphonies including:  Tri-Cities Opera, Skagit Opera, Bellevue Opera, Music of Remembrance, Off-Center Opera, Northwest Opera in the Schools, Opera Pacifica, Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Northwest Savoyards, Hans Wolf Community Outreach, and the Rain City Symphony.

Equally comfortable on the opera, operetta and musical theatre stage, Signe has recently performed the roles of Musetta (La Boheme), Pamina (Magic Flute), Micaela (Carmen), Saffi (Gypsy Baron), Ann Page (Merry Wives of Windsor), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Mrs. Gorbineau (The Medium), Maria (West Side Story), Yum-Yum (Mikado) and Josephine in HMS Pinafore where The Everett Herald praised her, saying that "Mortensen's voice easily stole the show at a performance on opening weekend. Her purity of tone and impressive vocal range stood out among cast members."

Ms. Mortensen was honored as a regional finalist by the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2004 and given an incentive award in 2003. Other awards include the Alan Lund Scholarship in 2003 and the Tri-Cities Opera Guild awards in 2001 and 2002.

Signe received her Masters degree at SUNY-Binghamton in association with Tri-Cities Opera where she was a resident artist in training for 4 years. She obtained her undergraduate degree at Western Washington University. Signe lives in Bellevue and studies with Erich Parce and Glenda Williams.

Recent engagements include Brundibar with Music of Remembrance at Nordstrom Recital hall in Seattle, Sondheim, Weill and Newman Cabaret with Black Box Opera Ensemble at the Columbia City Theater and The Medium with Puget Sound Opera.  She will be performing the role of Buffy in the West Coast Premiere of John Duffy's opera Black Water with Off-Center Opera in Seattle in August.  In November she will be performing Anna in Seven Deadly Sins as a guest artist with UW Opera Theater.
